Where to share your listing

Three communities work best for a new server:

Reddit — r/MinecraftBuddies, server-search megathreads

Discord — server-discovery servers (large ones always have a #self-promo channel)

YouTube — short 'why I joined this server' clips with the listing linked in the description

Pick one channel and run it weekly rather than spamming all of them at once. Authenticity beats volume.

Reward your voters

Wire a reward listener (NuVotifier) and give voters something memorable — a custom in-game item, a week of VIP, a Discord role with a coloured name. Thank voters in chat with /broadcast. Servers that thank voters publicly retain more voters over time than servers that don't.

Refresh your MOTD and description

After every wipe or season change, log into the dashboard and update the short description, the MOTD and the banner image. A fresh MOTD reads higher than a stale one; a banner with the season's theme makes the card stand out in the toplist.

Track and iterate

Use MCVote's per-server /api/servers/{slug}/stats endpoint to check vote and view trends weekly. If the trending delta is positive, keep doing what you did. If it is flat for a month, refresh the description, change the banner, run a community event.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for a server to grow?

Most servers double their daily vote count within 3 months of consistent weekly promotion. Servers that grow faster usually have a content creator or a viral moment.

Should I buy votes?

No — listing sites including MCVote detect and remove vote fraud. Real growth compounds slowly and is much harder for competitors to disrupt.
